We’ve been on this journey for 19 years, first as customers and then as the owners of a business committed to supporting local and organic. For so many years, running goodfood2u has been a meaningful way to support local producers, nourish a diverse local food supply, and raise our kids on only the best quality organic food. We are so grateful for the support of our customers and for the hard work of our staff and suppliers. This journey has been one of community.
After several difficult years we have made the decision to close goodfood2u. Our last day of deliveries is May 1st, 2025. This difficult decision is due largely to the shift in the world around us, competition is fierce, margins are tight, and inflation is impacting us all. We no longer feel we can best serve the needs of our community.
To our loyal customers, thank you. Your support means more to our family than you will ever know.
What happens next
Our last day for orders is April 30th, 2025 and last day of deliveries is May 1st.
We are closing, but you’re local grocery delivery just got better

As we prepared to close this chapter, it was important to us to ensure you could still access high-quality local and organic food, delivered right to your door. With rising global uncertainty and trade tensions with the U.S., having a reliable source of locally and regionally grown food has never been more important. This is why we are so excited to have partnered with Lufa Farms.
Lufa Farms has been growing food on rooftops in Montreal since 2010. An impressive 97% of their products are from Canadian suppliers, and they have a much larger and diverse range of offerings than we do. Their online system makes it easy to order, and set up easily modifiable recurring orders.
To ease this transition, we are offering you $40 off your first order from Lufa Farms when you sign up through this link.
We really encourage you to check them out—they’re aligned with our values, their food and offering is incredible, and this offer is just for our community.
At Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to create a better food system. In 2010, we built the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse in Montreal, to grow food closer to where people live and grow it more sustainably. We’ve built five more urban farms since.
We also partner with local farmers and food makers who share our values of sustainability and transparency, to provide food to our customers through our online Marketplace. Every week, we assemble thousands of customized baskets, filled with fresh, local, responsible food and deliver them to our network of pick-up points across Quebec, or straight to customers’ doors.

📦 How we pack orders and a behind the scene of our operations;

It’s been a wild journey—twelve years marked by global uncertainty, a pandemic, soaring inflation, and now, trade wars. When we acquired goodfood2u back in 2013, our vision was simple and heartfelt: to run a small, agile business that brought wholesome, locally sourced food to our community and nourished our family. We never imagined the roller coaster of challenges that would come our way. Business ownership is not for the faint of heart; there were moments when we questioned our choices. The long hours, the risks without benefits or a pension, and the constant uncertainties weighed heavily on us. But then, a heartwarming customer email or a grateful local farmer sharing news of a thriving market would remind us that we were exactly where we needed to be.
At the height of COVID, our little venture experienced an astounding 700% growth. We expanded our space, welcomed new team members, and invested in equipment and service innovations—all to protect our community, so families could stay safe at home. Every new customer, whether it was a young family far from home or someone battling illness, reaffirmed our status as an essential service. Even when it seemed impossible to take on one more order, we did, because every act of support mattered.
In the aftermath of COVID, as in-store shopping revived and our sales began to dip while costs mounted, we poured our hearts into recalibrating our business. We adjusted expenses, raised staff wages to keep pace with inflation, and even ventured into new software to simplify your experience—though we know it wasn’t as seamless as it should have been. We learned, adapted, and persevered. Our commitment to local food systems remained unwavering.
And now, with rising tariffs and the looming threat of a recession, the challenges have only deepened. While our commitment has always been to local food, the reality is that during the winter months, many of the organic staples our customers rely on come from the U.S. Despite our best efforts, we know that our service isn’t meeting the community’s needs in the way we wish it could. Being a small, independent business means we don’t have the same buying power as larger players, which impacts both pricing and year-round availability. We’ve worked tirelessly to make it all add up — for our customers, our suppliers, and our family — but lately, the math just doesn’t work.
On a deeply personal note, as we watch our two eldest children, now 18 and 21, embark on their own lives, we feel an inevitable pull toward change. Our journey with goodfood2u has been intertwined with the growth of our family—a bittersweet reminder that sometimes, letting go is the only path forward. We’re embracing this transition, honouring our memories, and stepping bravely into the next chapter.
Every choice we make as business owners—and as consumers—has a ripple effect on our community and the local economy. Did you know that almost 98% of Canadian businesses are small companies? With over 1.29 million small businesses employing more than 10 million Canadians and contributing over half of Canada’s GDP, supporting local means investing in the backbone of our society. Yet the harsh reality is that more businesses close than are sold, leaving challenges for many owners.
A New Beginning: Transitioning to Lufa Farms
Though we are sad to say goodbye, we are excited to share that we’ve partnered with Lufa Farms, a values-driven, locally-focused and owned food delivery service based in Montreal. With their commitment to sustainable, local food and their easy-to-use system, we know they will be a wonderful fit for our community.
By transitioning 3,000 of our cherished customers to Lufa Farms, we not only have a clear path to settle our debts and liabilities but also ensure that you continue to enjoy a seamless supply of nourishing, locally grown food. When you join Lufa Farms, you’ll receive $40 off your first order, an expansive selection of local and organic products, and the assurance of a service dedicated to community values.
As we bid farewell, you might wonder what comes next for us. Yannick has embarked on a new journey as an Inventory Specialist working on behalf of Ottawa Community Housing, committed to streamlining their operations and reducing costs. Meanwhile, Jennifer is dedicating herself full-time to her boutique consulting firm, Firefly Insights—a venture that champions employee ownership, helping businesses remain locally rooted through employee-driven transitions. With supportive new tax incentives introduced in 2024, we’re optimistic about a future where local and Canadian business ownership continues to thrive. And our kids—no longer big fans of kale and lentils—are finding their own paths in the world.
Thank you for standing by us, for every meal shared, every memory made, and every moment of support along this unforgettable journey. We are deeply grateful for your trust and are honoured to have been part of your lives.
Join us in this new chapter with Lufa Farms, and let’s continue to support a local business, and local food, together.
