Elevate your dinner routine with our Miso Maple Salmon! A perfect blend of savoury miso and sweet maple glaze, paired with fluffy sushi rice and vibrant steamed broccoli. This wholesome dish is a flavour-packed delight, ready in just 30 minutes. A must-try recipe to satisfy your culinary cravings!
1. Rinse rice several times with cold water. Drain well. Transfer to a small saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and 1¼ cups cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir rice once, cover, and reduce heat to low. Cook until water is evaporated and rice is tender, 18–20 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
2. Whisk maple syrup, miso, tamari, vinegar, and ¼ tsp. red pepper flakes in a small bowl to combine.
3. Heat oil in a medium non-stick skillet over medium. Season salmon with salt and place in skillet. (Cut the salmon into smaller pieces if needed, using scissors.) Cook, skin-side in the pan, shaking the pan occasionally to redistribute oil in the skillet, 7–9 minutes. Turn salmon and continue to cook just until very lightly browned (by this point it should be nearly cooked through), about 2 minutes longer.
4. Place washed and chopped broccoli in a steaming basket with a small amount of water, or, if you don't have a steamer basket, in a pot with a small amount of water. Cover the pot. Bring water to a boil and let steam for 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is bright green.
5. Remove fat from the fish skillet. Reduce heat to low and add glaze from Step 2; cook, stirring occasionally, until it begins to thicken, about 1 minute. Baste salmon with glaze and cook, basting occasionally, until glaze evenly coats the fish, about 1 minute longer.
6. Serve fish on the rice with broccoli. Serve with lime wedges to squeeze over the dish. Enjoy!
